"All skaters, please clear the ice," said the announcer, alerting the skaters that their warm-up was over. Bitter glances were cast amongst the competitors as they got off the ice - it was Nationals, and they were all there to win.
"Caroline, you're on next. Don't go too far from here," said the ice captain. Every competition has a volunteer ice captain that tells the skaters when to get on and off the ice.
"Fine," said Caroline, her nose turned up.
Good, now's my chance! thought Jenna, one of Caroline's competitors.
"Hey, Caroline, can I talk to you?" asked Jenna.
"I wouldn't talk to you if my life depended on it," Caroline replied, a mixed look of disgust and superiority plastered to her face.
"Just come with me to the locker room - trust me, if it wasn't important I wouldn't be talking to you either," said Jenna. Knowing how close she was to giving Caroline what she deserved, Jenna was bubbling with anticipation. Losing to Caroline year after year was finally going to stop, for good - as long as she acted quickly.
Maneuvering through the crowd, they finally got to the locker room. "Now, what was SO DESPERATELY URGENT that you needed me five minutes before I skate?" Caroline asked, obviously annoyed.
"Oh, nothing," Jenna said, locking the locker room door. Positioning herself between Caroline and the door, Jenna took off her skates.
"Quit it, Jenna! Right now I should be on the - WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!!!!???!!" Caroline squeaked. Suddenly, Jenna's blade was pressed against Caroline's throat.
"Tonight, Caroline darling, you will not be skating.Unless you can skate with a slit throat."
Violently, Jenna slashed her blade across Caroline's neck. When she was sure Caroline was dead, Jenna went through Caroline's bag and put on Caroline's gold medal from last year's Nationals. Exuberantly, Jenna realized that she now had what she always wanted - what Caroline had.
"You lose, Caroline," said Jenna, while she put a noose around her own neck, grinning madly.
Zealously, Jenna jumped from a locker room bench - her last thought was, I win.
